"A friend in need is a friend indeed." That is very true in medicine, and especially with chiropractic. Most types of medicine can just tell you that you've got some disease or condition. With chiropractic, there is usually the gratification & relief that something can be "fixed" (aligned, clicked, or whatever). It is hard to put into words the appreciation for coming out of the office "fixed".
I am a very active 72 year old, doing a wide array of strenuous manual activity of upkeep & jumping from boats & docks, haul heavy bags etc., gardening, lifting & playing with grandchildren, helping people move, etc.
Decades ago, my sacroiliac would pop out constantly. I went to a "old school" chiropractor, but the location was not convenient, and his process took over an hour and often seemed more like a wrestling match than treatment. It turns out the problem was a bad hip, and replacement solved that problem. With retirement, my strenuous activity (making my body do ridiculously strenuous things) increased. The sacroiliac started again, quite understandably.
During one of those times, Maryland Chiropractic opened, and I stopped in. Wow!! Doctor Curran is amazing well-informed on a variety of things that relate to the body. He also understands the pain, and knows that many of his patients are in strenuous activities, and need a fix ...now. He is good at "reading" bodies and explaining that the pain here is is actually attributable to.... So, often, I have felt the pain, and called, and, frankly on his table faster than an ambulance could have me in an emergency room. About 20 minutes later, I am walking out. Perhaps tender, but "fixed".
I have an example of the value of Dr. Curran & chiropractic. I got entangled in wires & bushes, and fell over onto a gravel driveway, crunching my shoulder. I called and went to Dr. Curran. I literally cold not move my arm more than a few inchesfrom my thigh. I was scared, but sure Derek could work his magic. He was extremely professional. He gave me the urgent advice that we had to avoid having the injured muscles lock-up. He did manual checking. He suggested I contact my GP, but that doctor wanted me to drive to DC (despite explaining the arm was dysfunctional), and he would not prescribe an MRI without seeing me in person. I was furious & frustrated. Derek was the only one comprehending. He got me walking my arm up the wall so that the muscles would remain active. When I finally saw (a new) GP, and subsequently a shoulder specialist/surgeon, they both said that Derek's quick & wise advice saved me from having a "frozen" arm the rest of my life. They also made exactly the same diagnosis & solutions that Derek had said on day one. That is proof that the combination of being geared to help patients in a hurry when we need it + extremely wise medical knowledge is VERY valuable.

Excellent practice and my preference is younger doctors as they are usually more up to date on the most recent treatments of treating an injury or condition. Dr Curran has been very through and treated my back injury with 5 different methods. I felt better the first treatment and will be continuing on until I am completely repaired. So great having a local Chiropractor!

I just started going to this practice last week and the results have been amazing! Finally feeling relief of the pressure in my lower back has been long over due. The doctors are great at explaining things in lamens terms and there hours work out great for my schedule. I do believe I’ll be going here for a very long time for body maintenance so I obviously highly recommend them!!!

I started seeing Dr. Schmitt after a back injury. This was my first time using a chiropractor. Now I'm sold on them!! Within two months of regular visits my back is completely pain free. Prior to the injury, I was experiencing semi-frequent back pain that I could not get to go away. I tried PT, massage, and other self exercise to relieve it but to no avail. He has alleviated that pain as well. Dr. Schmitt is professional, but treats you like a friend. He's great at explaining what is going on in layman's terms. His schedule is flexible and the office is lovely. Would highly recommend!!

This was a great experience! I was nervous, skeptical and in pain when I entered their office. The doctor was wonderful at answering all of my questions, easing my fears and relieving a good amount of my pain. I will be going weekly and I'm sure it won't be long until I am pain free!
